5 Things You Didn’t Know About Gravity Falls!

‘Gravity Falls’ is an amazing show, with many nooks and crannies to explore. The cryptic messages hidden inside ‘Gravity Falls’ make it the perfect topic to talk about, in places like YouTube, articles, Twitter, and multiple other platforms. I’m sure you’re tired of the introduction, and want to jump straight into the list, but before you do that, I need to warn you, there are major spoilers ahead, and I’d recommend watching the show before reading this. Without further ado, let’s jump straight into the list!

1. The Pines twins are based off Alex Hirsch, (The creator of Gravity Falls) and his twin sister, Ariel Hirsch.

Alex Hirsch himself stated that the twins were based off him and his sister. Some of Ariel/Mabel’s defining characteristics include: a love for boy-bands, a goofy and fun personality, and a love for tacky sweaters!

2. Gravity Falls Itself Was Inspired by a Real-life Place

The fictional town, Gravity Falls, was indeed inspired by a town in the United States – Boring, Oregon. Gravity Falls was an amalgam of places Alex Hirsch visited in Oregon when he was younger, but Boring stood out to him the most. Imagine what ‘Gravity Falls’ would be like if he’d never visited Boring. Would it exist at all? Just some food for thought.

3. The Many Voices of Alex Hirsch

Alex Hirsch voices more characters then you would expect, which I (and most people in the community) like. It shows he puts effort into his show, not just with directing, but with doing multiple voices. Alex Hirsch voices the characters of: Grunkle Stan, Soos, Bill Cipher, Old man Mcgucket, the gnomes, Quentin Trembly (The 8 ½ President of the United States), and finally, Dippy Fresh.

4. Bill Cipher Hunt

In real life, there’s a statue of Bill Cipher, and Alex Hirsch has set up a hunt for the statue in Oregon. Multiple people have found it, but it’s a fun gimmick to the show, and I like it. If you really wanted, you could try and find it yourself.

5. Dipper’s Real Name

In Season 1, Episode 7, it was revealed that Dipper was a mere nickname, due to the birthmark on his forehead. Ever since then, there have been many fan theories floating around speculating as to what Dipper’s real name is. Some popular guesses include: Tyrone, Dominique, Rodrick, and multiple others. In the real life release of Journal 3, it was finally revealed what Dipper’s real name is…mason! His real name is quite surprising, since he hasn’t been referred to by Mason until the name reveal.
